What's the difference between Categories and Goals?

Categories are ways to track spending and budget for spending. Goals are pools of money that you contribute to at any point and later spend through your categories. You can learn more about how to think about savings with Copilot here.

Can I create a goal for a future month?

We do not currently support creating a goal that begins in a future month.

Can I un-archive a goal?

We do not support un-archiving a goal. Marking a goal as archived allows you to see the history of the goal, like a receipt, of which account and transactions were associated with this goal when it was active.

What happens when you delete a goal?

When a goal is deleted, any transactions or account balance that was perviously allocated to the goal will become available for other goals again. If you prefer to keep the history of a goal you no longer need, we recommend that you mark the goal as archived. You can learn more here.

Why does my goal switch between different status?

This is most likely because you have Reactivate when funds dip setting toggled on for the goal. This setting moves the goal status between Active and Ready to spend automatically when you reach the targeted goal amount, or when the amount is lower than the targeted amount.

What do the different colors on the goal progress bar mean?

Green means you're on track to complete this goal in time, yellow means you're a little behind. This is usually because you didn't contribute enough to the goal in pervious months.

How can you tell you have already allocated money from an account to a goal?

If part of the balance from an account is already allocated to a goal, you will see that the allocated portion is greyed out and you'll see the goal associated with the already allocated amount.
