How can I separate my income and expenses if they come from the same company?

For example: I work at Netflix, but I also have a Netflix subscription.

Since Recurring transactions can’t be associated with income, you’ll need to delete the income Recurring from the Recurrings tab. Deleting the Recurring will not delete the transactions themselves but will remove them from the Recurring series. To keep everything organized, make sure all income transactions are correctly labeled as income. Learn more about transaction types here.

Afterwards, create a separate Recurring transaction for your subscription. Check out our article on setting up Recurring transactions here. Then, we recommend reviewing the filters on this Recurring entry to ensure they are optimized to catch these transactions going forward.

Why can't I exclude the transaction?

We don't currently support marking a Recurring transaction as excluded. This is because Recurrings are set up to track the date and payment of items included in your budget. This way, your Recurrings can be counted as paid at the beginning of the month, allowing you to focus on budgeting your remaining unplanned spending.

Why can't I categorize my transactions? (Income or internal transfer transactions)

We only support categorizing Regular expense transactions in Copilot. Income and Internal Transfer transactions cannot be categorized.

Why can't I update the transaction type from regular to income or internal transfer to income?

You can only change the transaction type on a transaction if it's an incoming fund. Only net-positive (i.e. green) transactions can be typed as Income.

Why is the transaction name not reflected/sticking when I change it?

Whenever a transaction is associated with a Recurring, the transaction name in the Transactions tab is updated to display the Recurring entry's name (instead of the original transaction name). However, if you tap or click on the Recurring transaction in the Transactions tab, the transaction detail view will show the original transaction name shared by the institution. Check out an example here.

What is Copilot Intelligence? How does it affect my transactions?

Copilot Intelligence is an AI system that uses machine learning to automatically categorize your transactions based on past reviews. If the suggested category is incorrect, you can update it, and the system will learn from your edits to improve future predictions.
