Copilot's Categories tab is designed to give you a clear overview of your spending, organized by category.

Categories Chart

At the top of the Categories tab you'll see a comparison of the amount spent this month and your total budget for the month. If budgeting is not enabled, this will compare your spending to the amount spent in the previous month.

Below the chart will be your categories organized by spend amount.

Category Colors

The bars for each category change depending on your spending rate for the current month. If the bar associated with a category is green, this means you're on pace to stay within your budget for that category. The bar will be yellow to orange if you are on pace to go over budget based on your spend so far this month. Once you are over budget, this bar will turn red. Outlined bars represent expected spend from Recurrings.

When viewing previous months, spending bars will either be green is you are under or at budget, and red if you are over budget.

You can tap on the chart to view your total spend for the year and average monthly spend. You can view past years and months by tapping to the right of Yearly Metrics or Monthly Metrics. Learn more about how we calculate Key Metrics here.

You can tap on a category in the category list to see a more detailed view. You can change the budgeted amount in this view by tapping on the budget line label.

Creating New Categories

On iOS, create new categories from the bottom of the Categories tab.

On Mac and iPad, add a new category at the top of the Categories tab.

Creating Groups of Categories

You'll see the option to create category groups by tapping on the menu button in the upper right corner of the Category view.

Rebalance Budgets
