Welcome! Whether you're getting started on Mac, iPad, or iPhone, Copilot supports track spending, budgets, investments, savings, cash flow, subscriptions, and net worth. You can use Copilot on multiple devices concurrently.
Ready to get started? Simply follow the steps below.
Connect Your Accounts
When you begin onboarding, you'll connect your bank accounts using a data aggregator. By importing your historic data, Copilot is able to suggest categories, create an initial budget, and identify & track your income.
π‘ Tip: Search for your bank using its full name or website url.
If you don't see your financial institution or are unable to connect via Plaid, try the Not on Plaid? option in the connection flow.
The loading process is usually pretty quick, but some institutions can take longer than others to share this data. If it's been over 24 hours, please reach out to our team via the in-app chat.
Complete Onboarding
To start a free trial, you'll need to choose a subscription option (annual or monthly). Your free trial will automatically renew, but you can always turn off subscription auto-renewal at any time after onboarding via Settings > Subscription > Manage your subscription.
If you have a gift or referral code, you can enter it on the Start your subscription step of onboarding.
Set Your Budget
Now you're ready to explore the app! The Categories tab is designed to give you a overview of your spending, organized by category.
Your initial budget is based on your historic spend, but you can edit it at any time and rebalance your budget as needed. Here are more ways to customize your budget to fit your needs:
Add a premade categories or create your own.
Enable Rollovers to track spending across multiple months.
Organize your budget with groups of categories.
Exclude categories from your budget.
Change the color, emoji, or Genmoji of a category.
If you'd prefer not to set a budget, you can disable this feature via Settings > Features > Budgeting. You can re-enable it at any time.
Review Transactions
As new transactions surface in Copilot, they'll appear in the To Review section of the Dashboard tab. Once you've reviewed at least 30 transactions, Copilot Intelligence will start showing a suggested transaction type and category for each transaction. Copilot's predictions become even better over time as you review more transactions.
To make edits to un-reviewed transactions, tap/click on a transaction in the list, make any necessary changes, and then tap/click Save. View all > will take you to the Transactions tab.
π‘ Tip: Create Name Rules to automatically categorize future transactions.
Track Income
We do not correlate your total budget with your income, so there's no need to "set" a monthly income amount. You'll just want to make sure that all your income transactions are correctly typed as Income.
These transactions are organized in the Income section of the Cash Flow tab. In this tab, you can also track your Net Income, which is your total Income minus any Spend. See your earnings in a whole new light by enabling comparisons and adjusting the timeframe settings.

π‘ Tip: Use transaction Tags to differentiate multiple income streams.
Create Recurrings
Next, check out Recurrings. This is a great way to keep tabs on expected monthly spend like bills, subscriptions, and reimbursements. It also helps keep your Dashboard chart accurate, by excluding Recurring expenses from the chart.
During onboarding, Copilot detects likely recurring transactions for you to review and organizes them into a monthly view. However, you can create new Recurrings as long as you have at least one previous transaction. Make sure to review your Recurrings' filters so that your transactions are accurately tracked each month.
Create Goals
Your spending and income are now synced in the app. But what about the money you put aside for future use? You can now track long- and short-term Savings Goals in Copilot!
When creating a Goal, you'll either start from scratch or link existing bank balances/transactions. Goals are tracked on a monthly basis, but you can edit your savings progress at any time. Once you've reached your target amount, feel free to spend from those saved funds.
